Biography Daan van der Gaag (owner)

After studying electrical engineering Daan van der Gaag began his career in the shipbuilding and offshore industry. In the early 80s he discovered the container world where he gained extensive knowledge regarding the repair of containers, and reeferbodies reeferunits.

With extensive experience in his pocket, he started in the early 90s by a Dutch company in the position of Supervisor Maintenance & Repair. In this position he was responsible for the maintenance of the global container fleet. In total there were 80 container repair depots under its responsibility to include Asia, Europe, South Africa and South America.

As supervisor Maintenance & Repair Daan visited many workshops to carry out inspections and audits of dry containers, reefers and special equipment. Daan was also responsible for the construction of dry containers and reefers in China and Indonesia. The entire process, from assembly to final product including interim inspections, he often accompanied on location.

Daan has relevant diplomas:

• IICL inspector sea containers
• IICL reeferbody inspector
• Refrigeration engineer

In 2016, Daan van der Gaag started the business VDG Survey Consultants.With his extensive experience and knowledge of the sector Daan is used for survey and consultancy-related business in the container industry.
